Jumbo at TU Delft’s DOT Company Day

On February 27th, TU Delft’s Offshore Engineering study association DOT hosted its annual Company Day, bringing together students and industry professionals for a day of networking, presentations, and case studies. As Jumbo, we were happy to be part of this event, engaging with the next generation of offshore engineers.

The Company Day featured a business fair, presentations, and case studies, offering students a unique opportunity to explore career paths and gain insights from professionals in the field. Our team engaged in meaningful discussions with students, answering their questions about offshore engineering challenges and sharing our expertise in marine transport and installation.

During our presentation, we highlighted some of Jumbo’s past and upcoming projects, emphasizing the complex and diverse marine engineering challenges we encountered. We also shared our experiences of seeing these projects materialize offshore as field engineers, providing students with a real-world perspective on the industry. Additionally, Thiemen van Groeningen showcased his graduation project on sustainable decision-making, underlining the growing the challenges that arise with making green decisions in an offshore environment.

The students’ engagement stood out, with in-depth questions leading to valuable discussions on operations, engineering solutions, and sustainability. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made for a dynamic exchange of ideas.

“At DOT we are incredibly pleased to have welcomed Jumbo to our Company Day for the second year in a row. During an interactive presentation, they engaged with our students using a concrete real-world example about the removal of monopiles. This provided a valuable insight into the industry and what it’s like to work as an engineer at Jumbo. A successful day and a collaboration we look forward to continuing in the coming years!” says Sjoerd Koopma, Board Member – Dispuut Offshore Technologie (DOT).

Overall, the DOT Company Day was an inspiring and productive event. It provided an excellent platform to connect with motivated students, exchange perspectives, and reflect on industry developments. We appreciate the opportunity to take part and look forward to continuing our collaboration with TU Delft and the next generation of engineers.
