To strengthen the Commercial Shipping Department, Jumbo is looking for a: Commercial Manager Shipping.
As Commercial Manager Shipping, you combine account management, commercial strategy and business development within the international project cargo and heavy lift market. You maintain and expand relationships with clients, freight forwarders, EPC contractors and industrial customers, while actively identifying new business opportunities for Jumbo within the JSI Alliance. In this role, you help position Jumbo and the alliance early in the opportunity cycle, secure invitations to tender and contribute to competitive, commercially sound offers.
You operate in a dynamic international environment characterized by complex cargoes, tailor-made transport solutions, changing market conditions and strong competition. Success in this role requires commercial sharpness, market awareness and the ability to translate client needs into practical and differentiating shipping solutions.
As Commercial Manager Shipping, you will be part of an international commercial team dedicated to delivering customer-focused, technically strong and commercially effective transport solutions on a best-for-project basis.
MAIN
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and develop client relationships within your assigned market, region or customer portfolio in close cooperation with the international JSI Alliance network;
- Maintain frequent contact with customers, agents, partner offices and internal stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities and strengthen market presence;
- Proactively generate cargo opportunities for Jumbo’s and the JSI Alliance fleet, with a focus on heavy lift, breakbulk and project cargo;
- Handle day-to-day freight enquiries and coordinate with operations, engineering and other departments for technical and operational input where required;
- Prepare, negotiate and follow up on freight offers, commercial terms, tariffs and contractual conditions;
- Visit clients, attend industry events and represent Jumbo and the JSI Alliance in the market;
- Work closely with operations, engineering, QHSE and communications/marketing to support smooth execution and strong customer satisfaction;
- Monitor market developments, competitor activity, cargo flows and customer trends, and translate these insights into commercial actions;
- Contribute to the growth of existing accounts and actively develop new customers and business segments.
WE
REQUIRE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, economics, maritime studies, logistics or a related field;
- Up to 5 years of experience in a commercial role, preferably within shipping, project cargo, breakbulk or a related maritime environment. We are also open to receive candidates with a different commercial background and a strong interest in the Maritime industry;
- A proven track record in developing business, securing commercial opportunities and building long-term customer relationships;
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with excellent command of English in speech and writing;
- Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis;
- A commercially driven and proactive mindset, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively in an international team;
- Entrepreneurial spirit, initiative and the ability to spot and convert opportunities;
- Analytical strength, result orientation and a strong drive to perform;
- Ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders at different levels, both internally and externally;
- Affinity with technically complex transport solutions and an interest in the heavy lift and project shipping market.
