MV Fairpartner loads foundation structures

MV Fairpartner carries 11 foundation decks for Estaleiros Do Brasil Ltda (EBR) from Iskenderun in Turkey to Rio Grande (Brasil). The foundation decks, also known as pancakes, are stacked 3 high. The largest foundation deck is 22 x 35 x 4.5mtrs and weighs 386ts (342ts). The lifting and shipping of the pancakes required extensive engineering and thoughtful load spreading for ocean transportation.

Brazil’s oil company Petrobras converts four VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) vessels into the hulls of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, which will operate in the Santos Basin pre-salt. The conversion of the P-74 hull includes the complete replacement of original equipment and the installation of 11 new structures (11+6 (17) modules in total basis key plan FPSO P-74). The foundation decks are part of this operation.

In de beginning of 2015 Jumbo will transport 6 modules in two voyages from Laem Chabang, Thailand to Rio Grande, Brasil for the same project.
