Jumbo safely discharges steam generators with unique vessel solution

July 2015, HLV Fairlane transported 2 steam generators weighing 500t each from Fos, France to Fecamp, France. Jumbo was awarded the contract due to the unique transportation solution which was needed to meet port restrictions in Fecamp. Jumbo is the only heavy lift operator with a combined lifting capacity of 800mt and a vessel length of less than 115m, both vital criteria for this transportation.

Port restrictions

The port of Fecamp is a relatively small non-commercial harbour which is only suitable for vessels with a maximum length of 115m. Jumbo‚Äôs Fairlane is unique because of its length (approximately 110m) in combination with its combined lifting capacity of 800mt. This video shows the departure of HLV Fairlane from the port of Fecamp. A second shipment is planned to transport two similar steam generators from Fos, France to Fecamp, France.

Management from A to Z

Jumbo together with the Client OCTRA, managed the project from A to Z by not only transporting the cargo from A to B but by taking into account the dimensions of the cargo, the port restrictions and overall planning. Jumbo was able to accommodate the client with a flexible sailing schedule thanks to the two Jumbo vessels in the H-800 and two E-650 class with these unique characteristics. If you have cargo that needs a lift please do not hesitate to contact Jumbo for a quote
